Seminars/Conferences/Workshops

COCES has successfully hosted Seminars, Conferences and workshops either solely in in collaboration with other bodies:

  • Rag to Riches Seminar: This is the annual seminar organized by the Centre in which seasoned Entrepreneurs are invited annually as resource persons. In fact, it has become a serious University event so much so that the University Community looks forward for the yearly event. At the moment COCES is preparing for the 9th Rags to Riches Seminar.

  • International Conference: The Centre has hosted the 1st Chike Okoli International Conference with the Theme “Entrepreneurship and Africa’s Quest for Development”.

  • Workshop: COCES offered the staff and students of the University a 3-day workshop on “How to write a Good Business Plan” free of charge.

  • Activities in Collaboration with Other bodies: COCES is a hub Centre that collaborates with internal and external bodies to execute entrepreneurial related events from time to time. Some of the activities already executed are as follows:

  1. Grooming Enterprise Leaders (GEL) programme, a Federal Government Project held in the Centre for the South East Zone.

  2. The Youth Enterprise with Innovation in Nigeria (YouWin) programme for South East which was a collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Communication Technology and the Ministry of Youth Development.

  3. Hero’s Foundation Kickstart Entrepreneurship Training Programme for South East Zone organized by SABMiller Intafact Beverages in Partnership with COCES.

  4. COCES in collaboration with UNIZIK Business School and Intafact Heros Foundation organized the Infafact Heros Foundation Kickstart programme

  5. Self awareness seminar for students on brand development and social marketing in collaboration with the students Union Government (SUG).

  6. Skill acquisition training programme for students of the University in collaboration with SUG

  7. Global employability and management skills seminar in partnership with PRESCOFERANCES Resources Ltd, Enugu

  8. The Brand 2 Wealth programme which is an external training programme being sponsored by Dr Stella Okunna (founder of Chike Okoli Foundation) has been of benefits to some staff and students of COCES

  9. Partnership/Collaboration with Ajulu Uzodike CEO/Chairman Cutix Plc, to set up world-class innovation Centre, mentor aspiring entrepreneurs to develop and implement viable businesses and assist the University to increase the productivity of the entrepreneurial programmes

 

COCES Kitchen

The Centre opened the COCES Kitchen to the University Community and the public in January, 2018 to offer catering services and to help teach students the rudiments of catering, confectionery and restaurant management. COCES Kitchen has helped to give food to staff especially those in the Administrative Block. The Kitchen has beefed up the image of the University in catering management as some organizations/groups request catering services from the Centre.

COCES Fashion Designing Unit

The COCES Fashion Designing Unit has been opened to the public and dress making and teaching of fashion Designing to students. At present, the Centre sews the Unizik High School Uniforms, Unizik Nursery and Primary School Uniforms, productions of cloths/wears for University guests such as TETFund Delegates, Confucius Institute Delegates, production of aprons and table cloths, caps among others. The Fashion Designing Unit has trained so many students and members of the public.

Exhibitions

The Centre has continued to participate in internal and external exhibitions. It displays its products daily in the Centre and during some official functions in the University such as accreditation visits by the National Universities Commission (NUC), University Innovation and Productivity Exhibitions, NUC organized exhibition at Abuja, Anambra State Made in Nigeria Trade Fair Exhibitions and Convocation Ceremonies. The Centre has adequately represented the University in these exhibitions.
